Volunteer Information

Dear Boxer Families,

Senate Bill 287 (SB287) dictates the Clark County School District (CCSD) to require background checks/fingerprints for volunteers. On November 1, 2017, the district officially released the guidelines that schools must follow, effective immediately for all volunteers.

Effective November 1, 2017, all volunteers who have regular contact with students OR who is likely to have ANY unsupervised time with students during school-sponsored events will be required to be fingerprinted and clear background checks through the CCSD.  The CCSD has defined “regular” contact as a minimum of 4 times each month.  To be clear, this means that anyone 18 years of age or older who volunteers for the school 4 or more times in 1 month MUST  complete the CCSD Volunteer Application Process, by completing the application, being fingerprinted and clearing the CCSD's background checks.  In addition, any parent/guardian who wishes to chaperone a field trip, regardless of whether or not they are a regular volunteer , MUST complete the CCSD Volunteer Application Process, by completing the application, being fingerprinted and clearing the District's the background checks.  Please note: the district will NOT accept fingerprinting or background checks from other groups or agencies, as SB 287 requires fingerprints to be submitted “to the school district.”

Please see the attachments for more information on how to complete the application process as well as the fingerprints and background checks. Additionally, I have attached a FAQ’s from the district, in hopes that this answers any questions  that you may have.  Please know that this process takes time.  It does NOT mean that you will not be allowed on campus without a badge; however, it does mean that you may only volunteer three times per month month, and you will be required to be accompanied by a CCSD employee at all times while on campus in order to be considered supervised.

Human Resources has requested that principals send in the names of any parents who intent to go through the volunteer application process. If you are planning on completing the process to become a badged volunteer, please email me at [email protected] so I may ensure your name is submitted. Also, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions that you may have.

Respectfully,

Stefanie Machin, Principal
