Due:
3rd quarter and 4th quarter grades.
The district announced that your fourth quarter grade will be the same as your 3rd quarter grade. Accordingly, I have opened up the third quarter grade book so that you may complete any missing assignments and or redo any assignment in which you did not earn an A.
If you are confused here are a few examples:
If you earned a 92% for the third quarter you will receive a 92% for the fourth quarter.
If you earned a 79% for the third quarter you will receive a 79% for the fourth quarter.
If you earned a 58% for the third quarter you will receive a 58% for the fourth quarter.
There will be no semester or final exam.
So, if you currently have a grade for the third quarter that you are not satisfied with I would suggest you complete your missing assignments. You may email me any assignment from the third quarter. If you need a specific assignment simply email me and let me know.
If you are confused and or simply have a question please do not hesitate to email me.
The last day for all work is 5/15. I will be closing the grade book on 5/15 at the end of the day.

We will be working on SBAC test preparation in class on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Students will work on performance task 1. Students will be working on explanatory writing. I have attached a rubric below to help students gauge how I am grading their essays. I have also attached a student friendly version to help students guide their writing.

In short, students this week will make a 3 dimensional globe from a flat map in class during the week. I will attach the directions below and a blank globe outline.

We will have an open-note world map quiz today in class. You will be asked to draw the world on a blank page of paper. Remember, you may use your notes so please complete your world map and bring it to class today for the quiz.
Some items on the quiz:
1. Label all seven continents
2. Label all of the oceans
3. Draw and label the Equator
4. Draw and label the Prime Meridian
5. Place a compass rose on your map in the Pacific Ocean.
6. You will be asked to show the boundaries between the continents. So, make sure you know where Europe ends and where Asia begins.

On 8/28 we will start a creative writing assignment called a R.A.F.T. Students will pretend they are a news reporter reporting about a current natural disaster. We will work on the assignment in class on 8/28 and 8/29. I will collect it at the end of class on 8/30.
Students may write about the fires in the Amazon, tropical storm Dorian, or the recent earthquakes around Mt.St. Helens.
