WEEK #2 SBAC INFORMATION

Dear Boxer families,

We want to give you a heads up about next week's SBAC testing schedule. Please read the following message about Week #2 of SBAC testing (April 19 - 23):

Who will attend campus during the second week of SBAC testing?

All grades in Cohort A and Cohort C (with last names that begin with A-L) will attend campus on Monday, April 19 to complete the Math Performance Task and any other SBAC tests they have not already completed with their first period teacher. Eighth grade students in Cohort C (with last names that begin with A-L) will attend campus again and report directly to the gym on Tuesday, April 20 to complete the required Science SBAC test for 8th graders. Cohort A students in sixth and seventh grade will attend their normal 3rd and 4th periods on campus. Eighth graders in Cohort A will complete the Science SBAC with their third period teacher.

*Any students who are not testing should complete work online to ensure they are marked present for the day. Please reach out to your teachers for questions about Google Meets and work posted in their Canvas courses and Google Classroom.

Likewise, all grades in Cohort B and Cohort C (with last names that begin with M-Z) will attend campus on Thursday, April 22 to complete the Math Performance Task and any other SBAC tests they have not already completed with their first period teacher. Eighth grade students in Cohort C (with last names that begin with M-Z) will attend campus again and report directly to the gym on Friday, April 23 to complete the required Science SBAC test for 8th graders. Cohort B students in sixth and seventh grade will attend their normal 3rd and 4th periods on campus. Eighth graders in Cohort B will complete the Science SBAC with their third period teacher.

How long will my child attend campus?

On testing days, students must begin arriving on campus at 8:50 a.m. Testing will begin at 9:10 a.m. Campus dismissal will occur at 12:50 p.m. each day, so please plan to pick up your child on time if he or she does not ride the bus. If you have any questions about bus transportation, please call 702-799-8100.

What does my child need to bring to campus?

Students MUST bring fully charged Chromebooks that are loaned from Escobedo Middle School to use for testing. Unfortunately, students may not bring or use personal devices from home for testing. (Students in Cohort C who do not have a Chromebook loaned from the school will be able to use one while testing on campus.) Students should also bring their own earbuds or headphones that are compatible with Chromebooks. Cell phones, Apple Watches/Smartwatches, and Airpods (or similar devices) are not allowed during testing. These items will be temporarily taken and stored during testing. Students should bring a book to read in case they finish testing early since Chromebooks will only be used for testing. We encourage all students to pack a bottle of water and a snack for the break between tests.

Health and Safety

Please review with your child the importance of following the six-feet social distancing guidelines and wearing a mask. All families must follow the Checking Your Student Before You Leave Home Guide before students arrive on campus. Do not send your child to school if he or she is not feeling well.

If you have any questions, please call the Escobedo Middle School front office at 702-799-4560. You may also view more information about testing at escobedoms.com. If you missed your days of testing this week, please reach out to Assistant Principal Victoria Turner at turnevd1@nv.ccsd.net.

Thank you so much for your cooperation during our first SBAC testing week!
